MAISON TEYSSIER

Butchery
4.5/5
2 reviews

For five generations, the Teyssier family has contributed to the reputation of the Ardèche charcuterie. In 1871, Victorin Teyssier set up shop to prepare sausages and hams that are still among the best today. The store is nothing but temptations: "bûchette", "jésus" and "rosette", dried meats, "coppas", "pancettas", plain ham nuts, with pepper or herbs of Provence... This good Ardéchoise charcuterie is regularly awarded medals and has been stamped as a Living Heritage Company (EPV) since 2007.

This master chocolatier delights us with a whole range of pralines. On the creative side, you will find chocolates with kalamansi, an Asian citrus fruit, but also with verbena, Earl Grey flavour or organic chestnut honey from the Ardèche, homemade spreads to treat children, cakes. He also offers marrons glacés, spreads, cakes but also fruit jellies... A delight! Why deprive yourself of such a craft of excellence to thumb your nose at industrial chocolate makers? This is a real religion for gourmets.

" We have a green thumb in the family ". It is undoubtedly thanks to this predisposition that Jean-Noël Berneau, a teacher by trade, has planted 20 hectares of olive trees on the steep lands of his Ardèche estate without any problem. About thirty varieties are thus present, forming a veritable conservatory of Ardèche varieties. Only about fifteen varieties are dedicated to the production of single variety oils. The estate is now in organic farming.

Nougat country tends to be the Drôme, but as with many delicacies, a friendly rivalry has developed between the two neighboring départements. And it has to be said, the Petit Ardéchois artisanal nougat is pretty damn good! It's made the old-fashioned way, in large copper cauldrons and basins, with carefully selected raw materials: lavender honey from the region and almonds from Provence. Wide choice in the store.

A vacation without a little ice cream just isn't a vacation! And with a setting like the old town of Aubenas and its castle in the background, a stroll through the narrow streets is the perfect complement to an ice-cream treat. Martin and his band of ice-cream artists juggle with local produce. The milk comes from cows grazing in the Monts d'Ardèche, the chestnuts from Imbert, the raspberries from Ardèche and the apricots from the Drôme, the chocolate from Valrhona and the vanilla... from Tahiti. The menu also includes smoothies, milkshakes and cocktails.

In chestnut country, Marrons Imbert are king! Everyone here knows them, and everyone loves them. The adventure began in the 1920s with Gustave Imbert. Manufacturing processes have been modernized, but the method remains traditional. The company's main distinctive feature is the systematic peeling and sorting of chestnuts before cooking, to remove skins, tannins and damaged fruit for a quality product. MOULIN À HUILE D'OLIVE FROMENT

Olive oil producer
3/5
2 reviews

No, it is not a flour mill! It is olive oil that is at stake, and it is the fourth generation of the Froment family that is passionate about this production, but also the collections of bicycles and old vehicles presented to the public. The ancestral mill from 1900, one of the few mills in the south of France to have survived the harsh winter of 1956, gave way in 2009 to a new modern equipment, and it is now Alain Froment who is in charge. His Alpine granite millstone extracts extra virgin, green and black fruity oil, although the house specialty remains the ripe fruity. The crushing is done with a stone millstone, which allows a slow and soft extraction, in order to preserve the gustative and aromatic qualities of the fruits. Made with different local varieties of olives (rougette de l'Ardèche, négrette, béchude, dorée, l'ubac and blanche de Payzac), these oils are rich in aromas. Depending on the year, a hundred tons or more of olives are crushed. A must in Les Vans. At the Concours Général Agricole, organized every year during the Salon de l'Agriculture in Paris, in early March 2022, the olive oil from the Froment mill in Les Vans won a gold medal. Do not hesitate to discover the store, located on the spot, where you will be able to buy the artisanal olive oil of the Froment family, some derived products, and multiple products of the soil and the regional products.

CAVE AU TASTEVIN

Wine Cellar Wine House

On two streets of the town hall, this wine cellar is well signposted from the RN 86 - two possibilities: or park along the national or enter the city via the central roundabout and you can easily find the place - to load the trunk of some vouchers… in front of the cellar. Sylvie's passion, wine merchants, vineyards and délices are visible: Côtes du Rhône with some of its greatest wines, great wines of Bordeaux, Burgundy du Val-de-Loire, Languedoc and South-West are carefully placed in the shelves of the cellar which houses the summer touffeur behind thick walls. But it's not all because local products are ardéchois - jams, blocks and even this rare water produced in Asperjoc: The Queen of the Basalts - are beautifully displayed on shelves. On the bulk, wines from Countries of Ardèche and Costières de Nîmes and some table wines. An excellent Muscat of Lunel of owner, discreet homage to the roots of the vineyard complete the pretty panel of this nice cellar which has the concern - alas too rare today to propose excellent wines without ruining the client.

AU TOURNESOL

Organic store

This independent organic grocery store has been in business since 2004. You'll find organic, bulk, plant-based and local produce. It's our commitment to encouraging healthier eating and reducing our impact on the environment. Bring your own bags and jars, just like the village's customers. You'll find tasty alternatives to meat products.

Gilles Azzoni and his son Antonin produce exceptional natural and organic table wines.
