For over a century, La Ruche Trianon has been famous for its Belle Epoque façade. An old store, but modern pastries. The creations are supervised by the artisan pastry chef and chocolatier Thierry Constant. Among the specialties of the house: the Devil's Sins (dark chocolate, milk ganache flavored with blood orange and ginger), Volcania (dark chocolates with hazelnut, raspberry and rum flavors), gentian chocolates, entremets, other creations. The Guillaume family has been maturing cheese for four generations. The story begins in 1924 with Marcel and his wife Léonie who decided to use four old wine cellars for maturing their cheeses. The house, modernized by their grandson Sébastien and recently by his daughters, now supplies some of the most renowned Parisian gourmets and cheese makers. Saint-nectaire, Pavin, their speciality with an orange rind, and other cheeses are made on the farm, before being matured in the natural cellars, the time to develop all their aromas.

It is to wonder if the nougat would not be born in Auvergne. Paul Lopez, grandson of a pastry chef, has used his creativity and talent to offer an exceptional nougat, made with good products: lavender honey, almonds from Provence, pistachios from Sicily... The nougats are tender and tasty. Some of them won an Epicure d'or in 2016 and 2018. The latest, L'Harmonie, mixes matcha, goji berries and puffed buckwheat. This young Clermont-Ferrand native is developing other gourmet recipes like old-fashioned macaroons (Epicure d'argent 2017).

Many varieties of bread, kneaded in the early morning, are offered in the two addresses in the town centre and in Aubière. The famous Saint-Esprit baguette is in great demand, but there are also rye, seven-grain, olive oil and strawberry breads. At lunchtime, Le Fournil offers sandwiches, toast and salads. In Ballainvilliers, you can enjoy everything at the adjoining bar where regulars savour pastries, croques, cakes and other pies. It is not unusual to see long queues at peak times.

Facing Monoprix, not far from Jaude, this small store full of colors seduces children and their parents. Here, candies of all colors and shapes are offered, to satisfy all desires. For more than 20 years, Auvergne Prim has been providing quality service and products. In the heart of the Halle gourmande Saint-Pierre, the greengrocer welcomes you with colorful stalls of fruits, vegetables and herbs in season. Some aromatic herbs are also sold in pots to better maintain them at home! The products are mostly of French origin, but not only. You will also find exotic varieties: limes, melons from Guadeloupe... On order, you can also leave with beautiful baskets: a great idea for an original gift! Since 2003, Ambert has been twinned with the Italian town of Gorgonzola. Philippe Seigneur, a passionate cheesemonger, has been making annual trips to Italy, bringing back typical cheeses, but also ham, gnocchi and real mozzarella, among other delicacies. Jacques Abonnat, assisted by his son Xavier, develops wines in his image: simple, sincere and frank. Their tarts contain neither sugar nor white flour, which lowers the glycemic index. We love their original recipes, such as pear & hojicha tea, Granny Smith & hazelnut, or yuzu & black sesame. Romuald Rémy, a finalist in the Grand Prix International de la Chocolaterie in 2002, in the "Un des Meilleurs Ouvriers de France" competition in the Chocolatier-Confiseur category in 2018, and ranked by Gault & Millau, concocts tasty recipes. Vieillard is an institution in Clermont-Ferrand, in operation since 1781. Nicolas Brugerolles is a graduate of the Chamalières cooking school. Today, the chef shares his passion for cooking and the art of the table with Création gourmande. The team likes to innovate in the mix of flavors, but also knows how to flatter a more traditional cuisine and propose organic or vegetarian dishes... They work with small-scale organic and fair-trade producers, from whom they select the best each season. Finally, the chef offers cooking workshops for adults and children alike.

During a visit to Orcival, a visit to La Bresade is a must. Why? Because this small store judiciously gathers an anthology of Auvergne products. Since 1998, Stéphanie Falgoux has been helping visitors discover the delights of the region. Cheeses, delicatessen, tripoux, beers, wines and aperitifs, including the famous Gentian, and sweet pleasures: fruit jellies, honeys, jams... Everything has been tested before being selected. More melting than the creamy caramels of Normandy, the texture and flavours of Benoît Lorlut's caramels make them unique. If the plain version is a treat, our palates are convinced by the original flavours (blackcurrant leaf, verbena, rose-litchi). The artisan has worked in several restaurants and was one of the youngest starred chefs in France. His creations are also recognized, such as his hazelnut praline spread, which received the Epicure d'or award in 2021. His products are on sale in several shops in Clermont-Ferrand and online.

Who hasn't heard of donuts, the round-shaped doughnuts popular in North America? Morad Asnabla has decided to reinvent them. He doesn't use frozen doughnuts, but instead makes his own, using local produce whenever possible. The variations are varied, from classic sugar doughnuts, to gourmet pastry-style doughnuts, to refined doughnuts with original flavors. On the savoury side, he reinvents burgers in the form of "bangers", composed of a croissant-style flaky bun, topped with Panko chicken, beef and bacon, or avocado for his vegetarian version.
