Lagoa do Congro is a little gem, reached either by a dirt track or by taking the asphalt road to Vila Franca. Either way, it's best to park before setting off, as the track can be hazardous and the site itself is close enough to make for a pleasant walk. In fact, the lake only comes into view at the last moment, as it is nestled inside a caldera, hidden and surrounded by dense cryptomerias. Don't hesitate to climb a nearby hill for a bird's-eye view.
