The charming village of Jungholtz owes its name to the German word for "young wood". The village owes its name to the attested castle that protected the Thierenbach priory. In 1220, the estate was occupied by the Jungholtz knights, who founded the village around 1259. For a long time, Jungholtz was part of the commune of Soultz. The castle was destroyed during the French Revolution. In the 18th century, the village was occupied by Jews, who obtained permission to bury their dead; the Israelite cemetery is one of the most beautiful in the region. Jungholtz was destroyed during the First World War.
