The Jewish cemetery of Jungholtz is considered one of the oldest Jewish cemeteries in the Upper Rhine and Alsace
The Jewish cemetery of Jungholtz is located in the moat of the former Schauenbourg castle. Founded around 1650, it contains graves dating from 1715 to 1923, making it the oldest Jewish cemetery in the Upper Rhine and one of the oldest in Alsace. Testifying to the age-old presence of Jewish communities in Alsace and in the region, the cemetery presents beautiful examples of the funerary art so particular to Alsatian Judaism.
