This welcoming village has been referred to as "Wounach" since 1272, when it was part of the Haut Mundat belonging to the Bishopric of Strasbourg. It stretches from a small valley down to the plain at the foot of the Vieil Armand (or Hartmannswillerkopf) mountain, 320 m above sea level. Wuenheim has developed thanks to winegrowing. Its Musée du Vigneron is a must-see for anyone wishing to discover the region's winegrowing heritage. Here you can observe the work of the vine from 1900 to the present day, through the development of tools and the ingenuity of man. It's also the starting point for numerous hiking and mountain-biking trails.
