The village of Wattwiller nestles at the foot of the Molkenrain. First mentioned in 735 and renowned for the quality of its pure, nitrate-free mineral water since Roman times, Wattwiller has made this its main asset. Today, Wattwiller water can be found on every good Alsatian table, and is also exported all over the world. The theme of water is recurrent here: every year, the locals honor it during the water festival, and fountains are installed. Another asset: the François Schneider Foundation, an art center on the theme of water, chose to establish itself on the commune's territory at the dawn of the 21st century.
