With more than 50,000 inhabitants, Torrelavega is the second most important city in Cantabria. Located near the towns of Santillana del Mar and Suances, it is a perfect starting point to discover the Cantabrian coast. This industrial and commercial town does not have a lot of charm, but it is worth mentioning its two beautiful churches, the Virgen Grande in post-modernist style and the neo-gothic Asunción church, as well as the palace of Demetrio Herrero, the current seat of the Town Hall, which dates back to the beginning of the 20th century. Several parks also punctuate the city, offering a real breath of fresh air.
