Since the end of the 19th century and the discovery of the "Baños de Ola", Suances has been one of the most important seaside resorts in Cantabria. And when summer arrives, this small coastal village of fishermen and farmers of more than 8,500 inhabitants, sees its population soar with the arrival of masses of tourists, who come to enjoy its splendid golden sandy beaches, surrounded by sheer cliffs. Of Roman origin, it also preserves several vestiges of this period, near its church. If you find yourself there on 16 July, it will be the great annual fiesta dedicated to the Virgen del Carmen, patron saint of fishermen.
