Located 72 metres above sea level, this town of more than 3,500 inhabitants stretches along 8 km of steep coastline known as the Costa Quebrada. It is home to the Liencres Dunes Natural Park, one of the most important dune systems on the Cantabrian coast, covering an area of more than 195 hectares. This area has been protected since 1986 and during the migratory period it is home to many species of birds, such as the great gravel plover and the coral curlew. The walk along the coastline is very pleasant, offering splendid views of the steep cliffs. Below, creeks and beaches will delight surfing enthusiasts
