A seaside town of 1,400 inhabitants nestled on the banks of a river where the Pas River flows into the Cantabrian Sea. Nearby is the natural park of Las Dunas de Liencres, one of the largest dune complexes on the Cantabrian coast, located on the left bank of the mouth of the river Pas. It is home to an abundant fauna, including many species of birds. The Great Gravelot, the Silver Plover, the Dunlin and the Whimbrel, among others, stop at the dunes during their long migration. Many species of reptiles and amphibians live in the area. The nearby beach of Usil is also pleasant.
