In turn summer residence of the kings (at the end of the 19th century) and "city of the marquis", this small fishing port has seen the flourishing of palaces and rich villas commissioned by the provincial upper bourgeoisie, as well as a pontifical university, whose enormous neo-gothic palace overlooks the village. Don't miss under any circumstances the Capricho de Gaudí, perched on the heights of the village, witnessing the architect's promising beginnings, as well as its old cemetery, built on the remains of a 15th century church. Close to the town centre, the Comillas beach, which stretches for almost a kilometre, offers a pleasant and refreshing break.
