This village of about 130 inhabitants is organized around its main street, where stands the church of Santa María, which has a beautiful example of a baptismal font of Romanesque origin, dating from the 12th century. Its decoration, very atypical, is a representation of the Heavenly Jerusalem engraved in the stone structure.Another notable building on this main street is a pilgrim's hospital, probably dating from the 16th century. When it first appears in historical texts at the beginning of the 11th century, the village is called Redecilla de Francos, a reference to the origin of its inhabitants. It took its current name in the 13th century.
