The beautiful bay of Msida was only a quiet cove background, where the inhabitants of Birkirkara came to wash their linen at a fresh source. Little by little, there were barracks, and then small houses built there to form a small fishing port for the colorful boats. During the Second World War, the bottom of the creek was partly filled, with rocks uncovered by the excavation of many shelters on the island.In 1955, a vast new land area is built at this location. The road from Floriana to Sliema is then built and, little by little, Msida becomes a major crossroads with the axes to the capital, the north coast, the city's cities (along Valley Road) and the St. Lukes Hospital.Msida (with Ta'Xbiex) is also the largest marina in the country. Along the quays, a walk has been made, where it is nice to walk through the boats or the beautiful residences of Ta'Xbiex (pronounce «tachbièch»).
