Further south, you will come across Santo Tomás Jalieza (25 km from Oaxaca), which specializes in the manufacture of textiles using the telar de cintura, of pre-Hispanic origin: one end is attached to a tree trunk and then a belt is passed around the waist of the weaver who is sitting on the ground facing him. Take a stroll and stop in the houses of the village to observe this impressive work: the specialty of the village is the weaving of cotton strips decorated with designs in relief.
