Forni di Sopra is one of the most beautiful tourist resorts in the Eastern Dolomites, surrounded by green forests and imposing peaks. Its historical center still has the charm of the past, with its wooden and stone houses and the wooden statues preserved in its church whose bell tower dominates the village. A small lake that turns turquoise in summer completes the picture postcard. Its 1,000 inhabitants live there all year round, which allows the local traditions to remain intact. The municipality is located in the north of the Friulian Dolomites Park, in a valley covered with pastures and woods. It is well known for its winter sports activities. Alpine and cross-country skiing are on the program, including an 18-kilometer cross-country ski trail and facilities for producing artificial snow. Located at an altitude of 900 meters, the town is well known for its restaurants (traditional cuisine and quality local products). Around the town you can see the magnificent peaks of the Dolomites: the Cridola (2,581 m) and Monfalconi to the west, Pramaggiore (2,478 m) to the southwest, and the Bivera (2,473 m), Clap Savon (2,462 m) and Clap Varmost (2,073 m) to the northeast. The resort is ideal for families, and it is above all a nature destination, as the village has kept its human size and mountain charm.
