The small town of Pieve di Cadore is located in the centre of the Cadore Valley and extends to the foot of Mount Antelao (3,264 m). Since Roman times, Pieve di Cadore has assumed a political, administrative, religious and cultural role for its area. It still has the palace of the Magnifica Comunità du Cadore (15th century), a secular institution of government for the local population, and the neoclassical Church of the Birth of the Virgin Mary, founded in the 11th century. The town also has three museums of interest: the Archaeological Museum, the Museum of Spectacles and the Birth House of Titian.
