Here you'll understand what the name Massachusetts means. The story goes that the first Indian tribe to inhabit the site was called "Massachusetts", meaning "near the hill". From Quincy, you can see this land formation to the south of town. Today, Quincy is part of Greater Boston, and can be reached by subway from downtown Boston on the MBTA Red Line. Although the town is now predominantly residential, there are a few points of interest, including a visit to the birthplace of the second President of the United States, John Adams (1735-1826). His son, John Quincy Adams (1767-1848), who went on to become the country's 6th president, was also born in Quincy. The town is home to Adams National Park, United First Parish Church and the largest marina in the Northeast. The city is easily accessible by train from Boston.
