An important Roman city, Alba has maintained a snail-shaped medieval urban fabric with numerous art and architectural remains. When you see Alba from afar, you are struck by its high towers looming on the horizon. Built in the 13th and 14th centuries, they were once more numerous and earned Alba the name "city of a hundred towers". In the 1960s, Alba underwent intense industrial development in the textile, pastry (Ferrero, the chocolate maker, is from here) and printing sectors. Today, Alba is the capital of the white truffle, whose enthusiasts come every year to celebrate the harvest in October.
