Pollenzo looks like a miniature Disneyland because of the red bricks that invade streets and buildings. However, Pollentia was once a Roman city, of which there are still important remains. In the 18th century, the amphitheatre became a small town within a town, with houses built on its elliptical plan. In 1832, King Charles Albert decided to drain the marshy area and commissioned the architect Pelagi to build a town in neo-Gothic style. In the main square, you can admire the church of San Vittore, the imposing corner tower and the Agenzia, seat of the University of Gastronomic Sciences, an Italian and international agri-food centre.
