18 km north of Parma is the "Versailles of the Dukes of Parma" or Reggia di Colorno, a sumptuous and truly royal residence that belonged to the Farnese, the Bourbons and Marie-Louise of Austria. Here one breathes a little air of France, reinforced by the gardens with their rigorously designed French-style alleys. Bordered by the Parma river, the village of Colorno is not lacking in attraction, with its colourful houses and its church of Santa Margherita of Gothic origin. Colorno is one of the stops on the Strada del Culatello di Zibello DOP, a delicate and highly prized delicatessen produced in the province (stradadelculatello.it).
