This village, 5 km north of Lipari, whose name means "little reeds", is located on the slopes of the impressive obsidian flow of the Forgia Vecchia (from where you can enjoy a superb panorama), the only remaining active volcano on the island. The pebble beach is wide and the waters are clear, all in a green and mountainous setting. There are a handful of hotels and restaurants, both close to the village of Lipari (which can be reached on foot, by bike or scooter) and far from the tourist hustle and bustle. Canneto was the main port from which the pumice stone extracted and worked in the surrounding quarries was shipped. For fans of urbex, a reinforced concrete complex belonging to a quarry (the cave di Pomice) is abandoned on a small wild beach
