The spiritual capital of Ireland and seat of both Catholic and Protestant archbishops, the dignified and serene city of Armagh is surrounded by great devotion. It was here that St. Patrick built his stone church, on the site of today's Anglican cathedral. On the other hill, the Catholic cathedral points its two spires skywards. For a small town, Armagh boasts an exceptional number of architecturally and historically significant buildings. Many of them are clustered around the Anglican Cathedral, or near the Mall, an elegant square with fine Georgian houses.
