Marino is a small residential community that developed in the 1920s and 1930s. Most of the houses are made of concrete, a material that was rarely used in Ireland at the time. This is where you'll find the Casino, one of the most beautiful neoclassical buildings of the 18th century. Casino, as you might expect, means "little house". It was designed by architect Sir William Chambers for the Earl of Charlemont. The guided tour takes us through each of the sixteen rooms, and will be of particular interest to architecture enthusiasts. At the time of our visit, the Casino was closed to the public for renovations, with no specific date for reopening.
