It's a small village perched on a hill, some twenty kilometers from Yuksom, on the road to Ravangla. It's home to Sikkim's holiest monastery, the mere sight of which can wash away all one's sins. The monastery hosts the Bumchu festival, where sacred water is collected. Mani (stone walls covered with sacred formulas, most often the mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum") surround the stupas, which are themselves drowned in multi-coloured prayer flags(Lung Ta or wind horses), floating in the air. A very special atmosphere reigns here, blending magic and spirituality.
