Located 3 hours drive east of Gangtok, Tsomgo Lake is a beautiful excursion, popular with Indian travelers. For foreigners, it is necessary to obtain a special permit. Book your trip in advance with the agencies in Gangtok because it will take one day for them to obtain your permit (with 2 photos and photocopies of your passport and visa). Count 500 Rs minimum per person (if you share a Jeep), and about 3 000 Rs to rent a vehicle. There, you can walk or ride a yak along the riverbanks, and climb the surrounding hills from where the view is breathtaking!
