Until 1956 it was called Puerto de Cabras, the Goat Port, because the herds used to drink there in a nearby gorge. And it is thanks to its strategic position that this port, founded at the end of the 19th century, became the capital of the island in 1880, to the detriment of La Oliva. Today we're going there without displeasure. The city is not overflowing with historical monuments, but it will be an opportunity to visit the house-museum of Unamuno. And the Town Hall has promoted the creation of pedestrian areas in which new sculptures regularly appear and is working to renovate the seafront, which can now be walked all the way to the Playa Blanca.
