This is the island's largest sandy beach. As a result, it's very busy, with umbrellas and deckchairs all along the bay, but still very pleasant. Cafés, tavernas and restaurants spread out, with their feet in the sand. The view from the courtyard of the beautiful Panaghia tou Vounou church (worth a visit), overlooking Platis Gialos and Kimolos, is breathtaking. This monastery, built on the site of an ancient temple of Artemis, houses an icon of the Virgin Mary which, according to legend, shed a tear of blood when a Turk tried to tear it open with a knife. You can stay in the cells. From the terrace, you can enjoy a wonderful view of Platis Yalos.
