Ribeira Seca is a parish mainly dedicated to agriculture. It has the greatest wealth in agro-industry and its pastures. The dairy industry is included in the Agricultural and Dairy Cooperative of Lourais, which produces São Jorge cheeses with Protected Designation of Origin. The name of this town comes from the fact that it is crossed by a stream that for centuries has been used to feed water mills. However, due to the irregularity of its flow, it was necessary to build several windmills, some of which, often in ruins, are still scattered throughout the landscape.
