The scenery is magnificently verdant, and this picturesque hamlet is characterized by a curious group of watermills winding their way along the Agualva river to a natural pool carved into the rock. The village's originalimperio is flanked by double Gothic arches and two cast-iron balconies. In its early days, the Vila Nova region was known for its abundance of water, and by 1891, 14 water fountains were supplying the community with drinking water. Although primarily a subsistence farming community, the area was also a refuge and settlement for many noble families. Vila Nova is well worth a quick visit.
