In the south of the commune is an exceptional archaeological and geological site, the Balmes de Montbrun, the old name of Montbrun which means burnt mountain and evokes the volcanic origins of the site. There are about thirty troglodyte dwellings carved out of the lava and tufa, some of them two-storey, and the chapel of Sainte-Catherine, partly troglodyte. Farmers lived there until the end of the 19th century. Also to be seen in the imposing church of Saint-Gineis-en-Coiron, two stones engraved with qualified six-pointed stars, probably Carolingian rosettes, which could indicate a pre-Romanesque origin of the building.
