8 km north-west of Largentière, this very old village is located on one of the last foothills of the Tanargue massif, the Cham du Cros. The name of the village comes from Sancti Joannis, one of the first holders of the church. To visit, the castle of the XIIth century, registered with the inventory of the historical monuments in 1985, whose vaulted room is opened to the public, accomodates many animations. It also contains a beautiful courtyard, vaulted rooms and a dungeon in the form of a large square tower. The castle now houses the town hall and associations.
