Its favourable position on the banks of the Durance and on a busy road motivated the establishment of a castle, named after one of its first lords. With more than 5,000 inhabitants, the agglomeration formed by the grouping of Château-Arnoux and Saint-Auban is now the4th largest town in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. An international gliding centre, it is rich in cultural events. Do not miss, among others, its jazz festival! Today, its Renaissance castle houses the town hall. Built in the early 16th century by Pierre de Glandevès, it is flanked by four towers. Its park, laid out as an arboretum, is magnificent.
