Ganagobie is an essential passage… since the time of the times. Most certainly since prehistoric times, there are traces of Roman times. The village is half-height between the Durance and the Plateau plateau and surrounded by an exceptional forest. From the village, take the trail that leads you to the plateau where a monastery held by Benedictine monks is located. Once here, difficult to go next to the pocket of the church and its magnificent eardrum that escaped to the demolition ordered in 1793 by the Convention. The mosaic at the foot of the altar is a unique work in France. Carried out by Pierre Trubert between 1135 and 1173, it covers 72 m 2. The suite on the plateau will also take you to the ruins of Villevieille, probably dating from the th century.
