At the confluence of Sauer and the Rhine, Munchhausen was once a fishing village. We can see a fish on its coat of arms. In Munchhausen - direction the Rhine - a tiny route starts on the right just before arriving at the Hostellerie de la Rose. A small bridge crosses the river Sauer. The view on white willows qui over the uncertain waters of the Sauer delta on these partially marshy stretches is enchanting. Land paths that leave after the bridge make it possible to enjoy this generous nature. The ornithological wealth of the delta is known and it is also one of the only breeding sites in France of the field frog. Further afield, you arrive directly on the Rhine. Structures of containment are visible and paths along the river for pleasant walks. One of the cycle paths is cross-border. From here you can take the ferry to reach the German shore at the level of Plittersdoerf. To find out about the hikes, La Maison de la Nature (at the crossing before Sauer ✆ 03 88 86 51 67) offers documentation and activities, public outings not only in the Nature Reserve, but also in the entire northern Alsace, with environmental animators and in particular bio-diversity wildlife, flora, landscapes.
