The Commune commune belongs to the canton of Saint-Gildas-des-Bois and to the district of Saint-Nazaire. It is located on a hub, in the large triangle Rennes, Nantes, Vannes and in the small triangle Redon, Pontchâteau, La Roche-Bernard. The oldest testimonies of a human population go back some 700 000 years, on the edges of the Vilaine. Tangible evidence of the presence of man in Sévérac is the existence of existing or disappeared megaliths. Well before the arrival of the Celts or druids, men built these monuments, vestiges of a christian civilization. Most of the names of our communes are derived from Breton. There are still names from French and the most recent ones. The municipality has many points of interest, for example: the site of the cow's rock, the menhir «Spindle à Berthe», the church and the chapels, the doorway of the castle castle and the peasant house of Oak to name but them.
