Malo, bishop of Aleth on the Rance estuary, was on his way back from Saintes, where he had fled persecution. Legend has it that, as he crossed the island of Guersac, his horse stumbled on a rock, which has since been named Pas de Saint Malo, and which still bears the mark of his hoof. Saint-Malo-de-Guersac's position on the largest and highest of the Brière islands (Guersac), as well as the dimensions of its church, which rises 37 m above the marshes, have earned it the nickname "the little Mont Saint-Michel of the Brière". Several buildings and monuments to discover.
