Le Pouliguen punctuates the line of the bay of La Baule with the Pointe de Penchâteau. In the mid-19th century, the discovery of the virtues of sea bathing marked the beginning of seaside tourism. Near the Brière, the Côte sauvage begins. Its marina and famous regattas confirm its nautical vocation. The beautiful houses of the Quai Jules-Sandeau along the channel illustrate the prosperity of this port, which was once enriched by the salt and fishing trades. The promenade, with its merry-go-rounds, restaurants and boutiques, has a somewhat old-fashioned feel, making Le Pouliguen a seaside resort with a special charm.
