The municipality is situated at the same distance between Nantes, St-Nazaire, Rennes and Vannes. Human occupation dates back at least to the Celtic era in Avessac. The marshes, located in the north of its territory, are a true paradise for fishermen and the refuge of cendrés herons, wild ducks and other migrants. Aware of the importance of green tourism, Avessac values its heritage (washing, lime kiln of a unique architecture,…). In 2011, his efforts were rewarded by the regional price for the development of natural heritage.
