Blain was at the commercial crossroads of five Roman roads. In the 16th century, the lordship of Blain passed into the hands of the Rohan family who introduced Protestantism. A town of history, Blain also owes part of its charm to the Nantes-Brest canal which runs through it. At the beginning of the last century, foodstuffs, barrels of wine, sand from the Loire, fertiliser... were unloaded at the Port of Blain, and the barge left with a cargo of cider apples, oak trunks, clogs from Le Gâvre, charcoal... at the speed of a horse's stride! Today it is the boaters, the hikers and the fishermen who take advantage of the site
