In the Middle Ages, Sainte-Colombe was a semi-independent community run by consuls, a jurade. It had a charter of customs which regulated the relations between the inhabitants, fixed the punishments dispensed for such and such a breach. Sainte Colombe experienced the plague of 1628 which took more than 6 years to disappear, and in 1634 and 1635 storms of a rare violence which destroyed the bell tower! This very pretty village has three interesting churches because of their history. Walking through the streets, you will notice that the village is paved in the old style. This village is regularly distinguished by the departmental jury of the flowered villages
