Alvignac cannot be mentioned without its Salmière spring! It was this spring that gave the town its economic dynamism in the early 20th century, turning Alvignac into a spa town. Infrastructures were built to accommodate curists, including a hotel and a casino. From 1962 to 1981, water from the spring was even bottled and sold in pharmacies and health food stores. The site has had its ups and downs, but seems to be enjoying a new lease of life: the Syndicat Intercommunal à Vocation Unique Miers-Alvignac is working to restore the site's beauty and activity. In 2016, the water pavilion was renovated. The Casino is still in operation.
