The presence of human trace at the location of this village dates back to the Gallo-Roman era. The community then dépendit the seigneury of the Benedictine monastery of Saint-Léons and became a full municipality in 1790. The inhabitants of St. Lawrence and Mauriac, two hamlets of the commune claimed their independence, obtained on 7 April 1869. Beginning of the century, the municipality decided to build fountains and a washing machine. At Mauriac, the church is Romanesque of the th century. The peak of Mount Seigne rises to 1 128 m and offers a superb panorama of the Aubrac and surrounding areas.
