Between Bourg-Madame and Saillagouse, at 1 250 meters above sea level, Osséja is the second commune of Cerdanya behind Font-Romeu. Nestled in a trough of the low plateau cerdan, 3 km from Spain, its dry and sunny microclimate has fostered the establishment and expansion of a biomedical centre of climatology. The municipality was even one of the first French climatic stations in the treatment of tuberculosis. The general aspect of the commune was amended by the construction of an important centre for disabled children. A pleasant place of rest and resort, it also benefits from a beautiful water plan, well equipped for relaxation and water activities (pedal boats and canoeing). Other facilities around the lake such as a mini golf, a bicross trail, climbing walls and many more add to the health vocation of the commune, a more sporty side. In the centre of the village, the beautiful church of Romanesque origin deserves the detour for its remarkable altarpieces, one of which will be remembered above all that of San Sebastian, attributed to the Catalan sculptor Joseph Sunyer. The city is also renowned for its events such as La fête de la Transhumance in May and the International dog dog competition in the middle of summer.
