In the heart of the Margeride pastures, Saint-Paul, baptized le Froid by its inhabitants, lives up to its name. The winds blow in all directions. A little outside, an isolated church stands up to the winds, offering superb scenery for those who wish to admire it. Further north, crossing the fish-filled Ance river, you come to Le Chayla: a sumptuous château with no fewer than 365 windows. Apart from the well-marked site, little remains of it today. At a time when it was already in danger of falling into ruin, the château was bought by Brother Hilarion, who created an insane asylum there, which was quite innovative at the time. The asylum was closed in 1850.
