On the road from Anduze to Saint-Hippolyte-du-Fort lies Durfort. A town where the medieval era is still very much alive, with a keep from the 12th-century castle and, above all, the remains of a Carolingian fountain, built in 838. Durfort is famous among naturalists: the almost intact skeleton of the mammoth now housed in the Paris Natural History Museum was discovered here.Just 1 km away, Saint-Martin-de-Sossenac has preserved the remains of its 11th-century Romanesque church and the Château de Vibrac. Two splendors not to be missed, on a small road that leads you through forests of evergreen oaks.
