Situated in the south-western part of the Rambouillet forest, La Boissière-Ecole covers two-thirds of its territory. Divided between Basse-Boissière, with its castle, and the village center of Haute-Boissière, it also includes three hamlets: Mauzaize, Gâtine and Épinette, with their funny wooden houses. Attested since the Middle Ages, the village was once part of the Saint-Léger castellany. A remarkable heritage site, the château was purchased in 1879 by Major Olympe Hériot to create the Ecole Militaire Enfantine in the grounds - hence the extension of its name to La Boissière-Ecole.
