Located about twenty kilometres from the capital, and less than ten kilometres from Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Achères is a residential town that has just passed the 20,000 population mark. Well served by transport, particularly the RER A, the city has large land reserves - currently used for agriculture - but is also known to have many industries. Nevertheless, a short detour here, especially to admire its very pretty 12th century Saint-Martin church, is worth it.
