Today, the crossroads city, by which you pass in the department of the Eure or in the Oise area, Saint-Clair-sur-Epte is the most northerly municipality in the Val-d'Oise. It was here that in 911 a treaty was signed between the King of France Charles III the Simple and the Vikings, to which the Duchy of Normandy was granted. At that time, a strong castle was built, which only remains ruins. A curiosity: the apple orchard where gardeners try to save forgotten varieties. The municipality has approximately 900 inhabitants.
