Between the Seine and the Eure, Gaillon, property of the archbishops of Rouen, is known for its superb Renaissance castle, which reopened its doors to the public in 2011, after many years of closure. This one dominates the town centre grouped around the church of Saint-Ouen and reveals beautiful half-timbered facades. But today Gaillon is also a small, active town, well placed between the Vernon-Rouen road and the Seine valley.
